Senior Manager, Regional Communications
TNTP seeks a full-time Senior Manager, Regional Communications for our Communications & Marketing Department. This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Occasional travel is required for reporting on TNTP’s work across the country, and for team and organizational meetings.

Our Communications & Marketing Department works to position TNTP as the nation’s most authoritative voice on effective teaching and providing all students with the quality education they deserve. We are a collaborative, creative team leading TNTP’s marketing, publications and communications efforts. Our team is virtual, working remotely from home offices across the country.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Manager, Regional Communications you will partner with internal leaders and staff in designated TNTP regions to find and elevate stories from their work that support our national communications strategy. As part of this, you will provide differentiated, strategic counsel for these regions as they develop communications plans that complement their regional goals and priorities—and play a leading role in bringing those plans to life.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Surfacing, pitching, and writing stories for a variety of platforms (e.g. blog posts, social media campaigns, op-eds) from the organization’s work in your assigned regions, advancing both regional and national communications/marketing goals.
- Providing high-quality strategic counsel to key staff in your assigned regions, helping to shape their regional communications and marketing strategies and anticipating communications support they might need.
- Building and managing strong, collaborative relationships with TNTP Vice Presidents, Partners, and other key regional leadership staff.
- Contributing to the development and revision of TNTP’s national communications strategies and priority storylines.
- Supporting media relations in your assigned regions—fielding press inquiries, preparing staff for media interviews, crafting pitches, and building/maintaining relationships with key media contacts.
- Project management of content creation, including direct management of vendors and external contractors.
- Collaborating with staff across the communications team to maximize the impact of the stories you surface with our core audiences, and continuously evaluating which stories and outreach strategies are most successful to apply to future efforts.
- Contributing to other projects across the team as necessary, including occasional writing, editing, and design support for various TNTP publications or client-facing materials.

We expect our Senior Manager to:

You’re attuned to the experiences and concerns of your audiences. You rely on your good instincts for using multimedia to amplify your words (even if you’re not always the one producing the visuals).

You use communications to generate innovative solutions to challenges in context of a larger strategic vision.

You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities. Bilingual Spanish abilities are strongly preferred.
- Expertise in communications strategy with five+ years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field, with a strong track record of sourcing and producing content that shapes conversations across both digital and traditional media platforms.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity-centered and asset-based communications. Experience working with or covering nonprofits, K-12 school systems, or government agencies preferred but not required.
- Exceptional writing, editing and communications skills, including a proven track record of writing effectively for different communications vehicles, formats and audiences, and the ability to simplify complex information into compelling and accessible messages and materials for a variety of audiences.
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders, including both internally with colleagues and externally with sources and subjects involved in the stories you produce.
- Strong project management skills and a track record of consistently managing concurrent projects with multiple stakeholders and tight timelines.
- High emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Oral fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
