We are seeking a Senior Media Planner/Buyer to join the Hager Sharp Creative/Digital team.

The Senior Media Planner/Buyer supports paid media deliverables and activities and leads advertising-related tasks for larger contacts. They are responsible for supporting the account and creative teams’ strategic thinking, creativity and innovation around paid media. They have expertise in a range of paid media-related tasks, including reviewing research to develop media plans, soliciting and evaluating proposals from media vendors, negotiating and purchasing media, monitoring performance, providing optimization recommendations, and reporting back on outcomes, and can advise account teams on the strategic use of these tasks and mentor or supervise junior staff. They stay up to date on trends in advertising and are becoming a recognized and respected leader both within and outside the Firm. Through thought leadership and other visibility activities, they bring positive attention to the work of the Firm. They support the identification of attractive business development opportunities and play a significant role in the efficient and successful pursuit of those opportunities.

In addition to demonstrating excellence in all of the Hager Sharp career competencies, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position are to:

Client Service
Oversee the planning and delivery of paid media campaigns for client projects, including reviewing/conducting audience research; developing media plans, including media goals, objectives, and approaches and soliciting and evaluating proposals from media vendors; negotiating and placing media (digital and traditional); and monitoring live performance
Coordinate with creative directors and/or designers on the development of creative assets needed to execute paid media plans
Oversee the reporting of paid media campaigns for client projects, including gathering metrics, making recommendations to optimize client outcomes, and developing client-ready reports and dashboards
Oversee invoicing process for all advertising, including submission to Finance and maintaining monthly trackers
Demonstrate skills in strategic thinking and planning, including discerning and articulating a clear and effective path forward, anticipating future trends and needs, seeing the big picture and applying a broad perspective, articulating vision, and creating innovative plans that work
Communicate developments in advertising to staff across the agency
Deliver excellent client service, including attending promptly to internal and external client requests, keeping senior leaders abreast of progress, and developing and seeking input on solutions for any issues that arise, and ensuring that all work performed is strategic, creative, innovative and error-free
Compose well thought-out and well-written client documents
Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects
Maintain timely and thorough understanding and awareness of key issues relating to client(s)
Business Development
Meet with client teams and clients as needed to pitch project concepts
Serve as a key member of proposal teams, helping to research, write and edit, participate in meetings, compile capabilities and case studies, pitch, and review drafts
Support budget lead in developing paid media-related costs and assumptions for the budget/business proposal
Participate in brainstorms and generate strategic, creative, innovative ideas for proposals
Support general new business as requested
Work with Director of Digital Strategy to lead the strategy and implementation of any advertising on behalf of Hager Sharp
Leadership
Stay up to date on advertising best practices and tips and tricks to inform all client projects and the Firm’s advertising
Deliver professional development presentations for Hager Sharp staff on relevant updates in the advertising field
Demonstrate an emerging expertise in social marketing, marketing communications and/or integrated marketing
Demonstrate thought leadership and actively seek visibility opportunities to bring positive recognition to the Firm
Supervise junior-level staff to develop and enhance their advertising, client service, project management, and business development skills; provide timely, thoughtful and thorough staff performance appraisals for direct report(s)
Mentor junior staff to develop and enhance their advertising, client service and project management skills
Develop and deliver presentations in an effective, persuasive manner
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
7+ years of experience in media planning/buying (digital media required; traditional media preferred); experience in a communications agency setting
Superior data analysis skills
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically to advance client projects
Strong team management, project management, budgeting, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff for optimal growth and productivity
Proven ability to be responsive and deadline focused with a strong client service orientation
Proven ability to develop strong, trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
