The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) seeks applications and nominations for a Senior Policy Officer to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to inform health policy at the local and state levels.  Located in Princeton, New Jersey, RWJF is the largest philanthropy in America dedicated solely to health. Since 1972 we have worked to help people, their families, and their communities be as healthy as possible – no matter what their physical, economic, or demographic challenges may be. We do this by providing funding, assistance, and research for projects and programs targeting some of the most pressing health issues in our nation. The Foundation has committed itself to a vision of working alongside others to build a Culture of Health where everyone has a fair and just opportunity for health and well-being.


Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Policy Officer will help to shape the state and local policy priorities of the Foundation and coordinate related grant-making, partnership development, and special projects with the ultimate goal of advancing health equity. S/he/they will join a team of professionals working to disseminate evidence and build partnerships to inform health, social, and economic policymaking at the state level.  By partnering with key internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Policy Officer will ensure that relevant and timely research, policy analysis, and advocacy efforts contribute to public discourse around some of the most pressing issues in health and social policy.  In addition, s/he/they will help set a strategic agenda for state-level engagement and policy priorities that are reflective of the foundation’s thematic focus areas.


The successful candidate will bring a sophisticated understanding of health equity and the social and economic determinants of health at the local and state levels and will have deep experience working with local and state community leaders, policymakers, and stakeholder organizations on health equity and related policy initiatives.
