Senior Public Relations Manager

Smartsheet’s Senior Public Relations Manager will have the mindset of a marketing leader and the skills of a world-class PR pro. You will have a deep passion for storytelling and influencer relations, love the idea of building a brand for a fast-growing leader in a burgeoning technology market, and be focused on driving awareness-creation and company growth. You’ll be a leader on a high-performing and growing communications team and will work with the sales team, product team, and, especially, as a trusted advisor to the executive and marketing teams in the identification and creation of compelling stories and thought leadership pieces to enhance the Smartsheet brand. You have the innate ability to identify a good human-centered story and the skills to relentlessly execute it in a way that influences those who matter most to the business.

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, this role will accelerate the growth of Smartsheet’s business by owning the strategy and management of PR campaigns in Smartsheet’s Tier 1 international markets in EMEA and APAC, as well as the creation and execution of global thought leader campaigns that keep Smartsheet top of mind in culturally relevant conversations. This includes evergreen campaign planning; story identification and development; execution of research studies, media tours, events, speaking engagements, influencer programs and more.

This role can be based remotely, in our offices in Bellevue, WA (HQ) or Boston, MA.

You will:

  • Lead strategy development and execution support for global public relations campaigns and activities aligned to business objectives and priorities.
  • Refine and localize Smartsheet’s global story to connect with regional and local audiences in EMEA and APAC, increasing share of voice and positive brand perception in key regions.
  • Work with PR agencies to understand media and industry trends; develop, execute creative campaigns that position the brand and executives as thought leaders around culturally relevant topics.
  • Meet regularly with key business stakeholders across corporate communications, marketing, customer success and product to understand business needs and objectives; provide counsel and recommendations.
  • Manage campaign budgets with accuracy and integrity.
  • Be a positive, collaborative mentor to junior members of the team.
  • Create an environment in which differences are openly shared, embraced and incorporated into the team’s activities.
  • Establish, cultivate and maintain strong, fair, and transparent working relationships with media/online influencers.
  • Develop media-facing materials, as needed, including news releases, pitches, fact sheets,, talking points and Q&As, reactive messaging/holding statements, bylined articles, etc.
  • Prepare briefing materials for executives; coordinate scheduling and logistics; host media briefings.
  • Measure and contribute to communications metrics reporting for designated campaigns; set clear and measurable metrics and use ‘test and learn’ approach to improve performance.
  • Support other responsibilities as needed.

You have:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a corporate communications or public relations role, preferably in the software/Saas industry.
  • Experience working with and managing/liaising with international stakeholders and media on global campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to and interacting with press, industry analysts, executive leaders, customers, and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing relationships with PR agencies.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with all communications disciplines—internal communications, social media, media relations, analyst relations, crisis communications and public relations.
  • Passion for storytelling with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate about complex topics in a simple, easy to understand way.
  • The ability to work one-on-one with and influence business leaders (at all levels of the organization) on communications initiatives from conception to launch – and provide strategic advice and execution support throughout the process.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once while delivering high quality work, adhering to standards for internal client service and meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to interact with others in ways that are sensitive to cultural norms and expectations.
  • Strong team ethic and collaborative work style, but must be able to work independently, assume responsibility and be accountable.
  • A proven track record of thriving in collaborative, fast-paced work environments.
