Senior Public Relations & Social Marketing Coordinator

POSITION OBJECTIVE Support the execution of Kohl’s public relations and social campaigns in order to drive sales and traffic while garnering ongoing press and engagement for Kohl’s.



  • Creates press materials and social content for all broad-based consumer brand programs and strategies, including, but not limited to, seasonal initiatives for spring, summer, back-to-school, fall and holiday, micro brand strategies, new brand launches, special and celebrity events, internal communications and other press functions.
  •  Develop the Conversation Calendar that delivers against social goals and strategies and utilizes channel best practices and media learnings to optimize and evolve content, this includes creative requests and publishing.
  • Leads the execution of existing and future public relations and social strategies to include research, event planning, and extensive writing such as media concepts, pitch angles, editorial and social content calendars, talking points, fact sheets, media alerts and releases.
  • Identify and activate on social media trends and breaking news for Kohl’s


  • Acts as ambassador for Kohl’s in NYC attending industry events and entertaining press; will also identify possible opportunities with key media outlets, social platforms and partners.
  • Leverage social channel partnerships to bring testing opportunities to life across Kohl’s social channels, elevating Kohl’s presence in the social space against the competitive set
  • Leverages internal and external research and relationships to create press and social opportunities for Kohl’s brand.
  • Identifies, develops and implements partnerships with influencers that will elevate Kohl’s and increase awareness


  •  Key resource for social industry trends, regulations and measurement to consistently improve and iterate capabilities, messaging and content
  • Manages and coordinates PR Showroom and all sample collection, disbursements and returns.
  • Answers media calls and conducts media relations for all programs on a daily basis, including developing pitches.
  • Coordinates the activities with various external vendor partners and public relations agency.
  • Tracks results and works with agency partners to provide comprehensive measurement of program results, social engagement and media coverage.
  •  Monitors daily media and social engagement, with team, for inclusion in daily report of news/trends.
  • Proactive community management and interaction with fans/followers for Kohl’s owned and operated social platforms as well as brand platforms



  •  Four year degree in brand marketing, social marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or other applicable area of study.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in basic public relations or social marketing role, including national media relations experience
  • Demonstrated creativity, engagement and collaboration within social media, with ability to work within a highly collaborative organization
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in AP style writing skills
  •  Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Thrives in a fast paced work environment, able to work on multiple programs with multiple components and deadlines.
  • Experience working with different social media spaces (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat)


  •  Experience working national media, particularly consumer / fashion  / lifestyle publications
  • Comfortable working with a variety of social media dashboards and monitoring tools
  • Experience working with media and social reporting and analytics tools
  • Knowledge of paid media and sponsored ad unit types (particularly for Facebook)
