The newly formed global PR team for Expedia Brands is looking for a pro with experience in issues management to join their team in this highly visible role.

The mission of the PR team is to boost awareness, trust, and loyalty for Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and the rest of the Expedia Brands portfolio. Sitting in the global operations team, the role will partner closely with our Expedia Group corporate communications and Expedia Brand PR teams across the globe to handle a range of issues and crises to protect and improve the reputation of Expedia’s brands.

This role will have a strong focus on resolving critical customer issues and requires a passion for consumer advocacy, educating and a willingness to dig deep to understand and solve complex problems.

The dream candidate thrives in a fast-paced matrix organization, has a consistent track record managing reputational risks and outstanding media relations and writing skills.

This position will work from either an office in Seattle or Austin.

What You’ll Do

  • Working with the PR leadership team, serve as key counselor to global PR team on reputational risks and issues management ensuring alignment with our communications strategy
  • Act as one of the team’s key points of contact with the Corporate Communications team to effectively guide the global PR team on response strategies
  • With our customers as the priority, work closely with our customer service organization and other key partners to understand, manage, and resolve customer complaints received via the media
  • Translate complex issues into simple and easy-to-understand content, including statements, talking points, media responses, etc. appropriate for media and consumers
  • Identify potential issues and track possible concerns related to current events, social media trends, and business operations and proactively prepare for them
  • Establish and optimize the issues management and customer escalations processes
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from the team and leadership
  • Contribute to issues management measurement framework to provide practical insights and recommendations
  • Reports to the global head of Expedia PR Brand Operations

  • Experience working with a well-established company/brand, and global experience, is highly preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Critical-thinking skills and the ability to objectively view and synthesize information
