The Media Relations Specialist is responsible for promoting and protecting the company’s reputation by developing and executing media and public relations strategies and plans for brand building innovation, corporate promotions, corporate communications and affair initiatives through the use of various media outlets in collaboration with the Dine Brands Communications Team.  This role will also work alongside the VP of Global Communications to communicate progress and action of the Dine Brands ESG Strategy.


  • Solid professional experience as a media spokesperson in an international corporation (preferably in the restaurant/franchisee industry); in journalism or in a comparable role
  • Proven ability to generate ideas and to turn them into content
  • Outstanding written (including editing and proofreading), spoken and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders and various peers across different hierarchy levels
  • A positive personality with a high level of energy as well as the ability to balance multiple priorities and tasks and to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Leading in the developing, implementing and measuring external and internal Media based communication plans
  • Manage day-to-day media relations/media requests for corporate issues
  • Create a revised media crisis management plan
  • Collaborate with company leaders, brand teams, agency partners, and subject matter experts in a timely manner to determine appropriate media responses via various channels
  • Develop written materials including press releases, Q&A, media standby statements on corporate issues as required

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a corporate communications/public affairs role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to take responsibility and function independently to complete tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
