The Sr. Director,Government Affairs role at Nextracker serves as a strategic business partner and a member of the senior management team, and oversees all government affairs globally. This senior leader is accountable for advocating public policy laws and regulations at the federal, state and foreign levels which advance Nextracker’s industry and/or business objectives.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

This professional is a change agent in driving laws, regulations and rules in support of the solar industry generally and Nextracker’s business specifically. The role requires an extensive political and lobbying network, a creative and savvy mindset, and a firm understanding of Nextracker’s strategic goals. Ultimately, the goal of this position at Nextracker is to ensure that incentives are established to drive demand for our products, as well as eliminating obstacles in the business. Reporting to Nextracker’s President, the responsibilities include:

  • Lobbying federal, state and foreign elected officials and their staff to drive legislative change favorable to Nextracker.
  • Analyze public policy trends to craft solutions proactively for advancing business goals.
  • Drive Nextracker advocacy in key areas relevant to utility-scale solar, such as U.S. federal investment and manufacturing tax credits, tariffs and other trade barriers, Bureau of Land Management permitting processes, and cybersecurity.
  • Work closely with regulatory agencies to align implementing rules with Nextracker policy goals.
  • Represent Nextracker in trade association activities, including board membership where applicable.
  • Analyze public policy trends to craft solutions proactively for advancing business goals.
  • Work closely with lobbyists, legal experts and other professional advocates to analyze policy alignment with Nextracker and effect appropriate change.
  • Report ROI-focused performance metrics to assess lobbying campaigns in state, federal and global arenas.
  • As part of Nextracker’s corporate leadership team, define key policies and execute strategic advocacy campaigns,
  • Formulate and deliver testimony before government bodies

Here is some of what you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of experience in leading government affairs in large corporations.
  • Exceptional relationships in policymaking functions, preferably with those relevant to the solar industry.
  • Understanding of relevant policy drivers for utility scale solar in the U.S. and abroad.
  • High emotional and cultural intelligence required for collaborating with operations in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Middle East North Africa and Australasia/ APAC. Must be globally minded.
  • Organizationally astute, have superior influencing, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build strong working relationships across all levels within the business and communicate effectively with external industry partners.
  • A leader with both creative and analytical capabilities..
