ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Sr Director of Government Relations will coordinate Navient’s activities toward federal lobbying, advocacy, and outreach efforts, representing Navient to elected officials and their staffs. The Sr Director will represent and coordinate Navient’s presence at federal and state political organizations. They will represent Navient with industry organizations on legislative and regulatory issues, addressing issues of key risk to Navient and developing strategies to address. They will also work with the government relations team to coordinate state lobbying, advocacy, and outreach efforts and assist in Navient’s business advocacy needs at the federal and state level, working with business leads to identify specific support requirements as well as identifying, evaluating and overseeing outside consultant support.
– Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or related area of study
– 10+ years of legislative or regulatory experience.
– Understanding and experience in federal and state legislative processes
– Ability to communicate complex financial and business interests and considerations to external audiences
– Ability to manage competing priorities and develop strategies to implement advocacy goals
