Now we are looking for a Sr. Manager, Lead, DC PR, and Media Relations to join this Supercharged Un-carrier as we write our next chapter!The Sr. Manager, Lead will use their knowledge of the complex DC regulatory landscape and top-level PR chops to partner with colleagues across our business as they amplify the Un-carrier voice in the Beltway with media and key influencers. You will be on the ground in DC as an external communications liaison and lead doing all the things — strategizing, pitching, flagging, writing, editing, researching, and ideating. At the same time, you’ll be a connector back to our Bellevue and Overland Park headquarters and provide support to teams on the ground there as well. You’ll lean on your existing cadre of rock-solid media relationships – and create new ones – to effectively penetrate Beltway and other key regional and local media markets. You are a highly effective collaborator and partner who is driven to build relationships that support achieving a common goal. You are known for connecting dots and your follow through, and you are committed to quality of work and take pride in measurable outcomes. You will build a strategy just as well as you can execute on it – and you are passionate about delivering impact and defining success.

What you’ll do in your role.

Specifically, this role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Work with partners in Communications, Government Affairs and External Relations teams to understand key priorities, develop external communications strategies and execute on plans that support and amplify those priorities and the T-Mobile Un-Carrier brand in the Beltway
  • Own, create and cultivate regional and national media relationships inside the Beltway
  • Support other national and regional media issues and opportunities involving GA and DC-related topics
  • Cultivate opportunities to amplify the profile of company senior leadership in the DC market and beyond
  • Monitor and analyze Beltway media and regulatory environment and provide regular reporting to HQ-based teams on tone and content
  • Serve as a liaison and communications pathway for both HQ and DC based teams
  • Partner with Government Affairs and External Relations to support external communications needs, including tools and reactive and proactive content development and strategy
  • Contribute to messaging with top notch content, writing and editing
  • Assist in the execution of PR events and media relations activities
  • Support day-to-day media management, including flagging and daily reporting, that serves the broad Communications team and leadership
  • Partner with agency resources, where needed

The experience you’ll bring.

The candidate must have the following requisite qualifications:

  • 8-10+ years’ experience working at a PR/marketing agency or corporate communications/PR team
  • Strong Beltway media and influencer connections and experience
  • Depth of experience working with media
  • Understanding of consumer technology and wireless technologies
  • Depth of experience in D.C. environment GA and industry/government players and process
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to partner across the company and work with different teams
  • Understanding of social media’s impact on media relations and familiarity with developing social media content
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Strong writing and editing skills – attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Urgency and flexibility – understanding that there will be after hours and weekend work at times
  • Calm under pressure and tight deadlines
