The Sr. Manager of Public Affairs will serve as the top PR leader in the Omaha market. This person will be responsible for building and cultivating a positive image with community leaders and consumers; acting as primary media spokesperson and overseeing media messaging and management; overseeing the charitable activity and relationships with non-profit organizations; creating opportunities for employee engagement and volunteerism; and other activities necessary for optimal reputation management, business development and community and employee engagement.Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions• Creates an overall Public Affairs strategy to promote and advance Cox’s interest across government, community, external PR and employees.
• Responsible for building and maintaining positive image with community leaders, media outlets, the general public and employees.
• Represents Cox through participation in in community, civic, and business organizations.
• Establishes, supports, and leverages positive company relationships to grow the business.
• Serves as a principal spokesperson for Cox to local media.
• Creates public affairs programs that positively positions Cox’s residential and commercial services and reinforces the competitive advantages and overall value of Cox’s products.
• Establishes and leverages strong partnerships with key departments and internal/external customers to drive positive measurable outcomes for Cox, Cox Business and Cox Media.
• Counsels senior management on importance of frequent, open communication and inserts employee communications considerations into planning of all major company initiatives, events and announcements.
• Establishes and leverages strong partnerships with key departments and internal/external customers to drive positive measurable outcomes for Cox, Cox Business and Cox Media.
• Drive alignment and consistency in people, practices, management activities and customer service delivery.


• 7+ years of public affairs experience.
• BS/BA degree in related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.
• Ability to define, monitor and analyze information utilizing strong critical thinking skills.
• History of community engagement.
• Ability to engage, inspire and influence at all levels internally and externally.
• Existing community relationships in Omaha.
• Existing relations with media contacts in Omaha.

• Advanced degree (MS/MA/MBA) desired.
• Experience managing philanthropy efforts and charitable giving activities.
