Job Summary

Develops and directs a proactive, strategic plan to enhance state, local, and federal government perceptions of the company in West Virginia. Works with lobbyists and company management, to identify issues and achieve corporate goals for government relations. Manages development of action plans for addressing issues at each level of government. Advises and directs the community presence for the company. Develops and directs local strategies for accomplishing goals, ensuring a coordinated representation in the communities where the company operates. Coordinates state and local government representation with company’s senior, corporate representatives.

Partners regularly with operating personnel across Dominion operations in West Virginia. Supervises development of training programs and seminars, to increase political awareness and involvement of employees in political process. Serves as link between executives and Dominion PAC, and Committee for Responsible Government (CRG). Coordinates with economic development, to integrate their activities with government affairs initiatives. Manages a staff supporting West Virginia state and local affairs.

This position is open to the corporate relocation program for candidates who meet program requirements.

Note:  Travel will be required 26-50% of the time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum 10-12 years related experience.  (Note:  A Master’s Degree can count towards one year of experience).

Demonstrated knowledge of major operating requirements of the company which are affected by government action.
In-depth knowledge of political process and operation of local, state, and federal government, their applications, and supporting theories.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong, persuasive communication skills.Strong organizational and management skills.
Demonstrated conversant ability in theory, principles, and methods of effective and persuasive speaking, discussion, and debate.
Strong ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
Strong leadership and decision-making ability.

Education Requirements

Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines:  Business, Political Science, Public Policy and Administration
