Position Summary

This position of Sustainability Analyst provides analytical support to create, drive and maintain effective corporate sustainability activities aligned with PPL’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs within the Public Affairs Department.  This position will report to the Vice President-Public Affairs & Sustainability to lead data sustainability and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of PPL’s sustainability vision and strategy
  • Enhance the ESG reporting and benchmarking functions among key departments and build processes to incorporate best practices and action planning into the investment and process improvement programs at the corporate and operating companies
  • Conduct education and training on ESG specific risks/opportunities for key stakeholders
  • Develop key process tools to track, report and benchmark sustainability/ESG performance effectively
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) in leading the gathering, organization and reporting qualitative and quantitative performance results, including data analysis and verification
  • Support Investor Relations, Communications and various departments in providing timely, complete and correct sustainability/ESG performance results for various sustainability-related disclosures and rating requests/programs
  • Seek, build, and maintain cooperative/new relationships with key external stakeholders (EEI, EPRI, etc.) and support partnership opportunities for benchmarking, outreach, sponsorships, engagement on business issues, and best practices
  • Stay abreast of ESG reporting and ratings and make recommendations for positioning the company through enhanced voluntary disclosure
  • Participate in climate policy discussions and the development of a corporate climate assessment report
  • Work closely with Financial and operating companies to support risk assessments and scenario analysis
  • Assist in the development of presentations and other materials to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Assist departmental staff in other program areas as requested
  • Support as needed Public Affairs compliance functions
  • Physical presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.  In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

Basic Qualifications

Sustainability Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, sustainability, environmental engineering or related field
  • 2-4 years experience, which could include co-op assignments
  • Requires in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline

Sr Sustainability Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, sustainability, environmental engineering or related field
  • 5 to 7 years experience, which could include co-op assignments
  • Requires in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline

Preferred Qualifications

Sustainability Analyst:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding big picture implications and willingness to solve problems independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with a natural sense of urgency, curiosity, and initiative
  • Lead and manage projects and initiatives

Sr Sustainability Analyst:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding big picture implications and willingness to solve problems

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
