Role Summary
The SVP, Communications & PR is responsible for defining and leading the implementation of a brand-driven communications strategy for Audi of America and the Audi brand across a range of segments such as corporate, product and lifestyle. This strategy will incorporate both internal and external communications to a broad range of stakeholders, including employees, industry and lifestyle media, consumers, dealers, industry associations, and government. The SVP, Communications & PR also will serve as a spokesperson for the brand and will effectively steer public relations outreach to position AoA’s and the brand’s reputation in a positive light.
Role Responsibilities

Strategy (65%)

  • Collaborate directly with Audi AG Head of Global Communications to coordinate with Audi Global Communication Strategies
  • Define, create, and manage implementation of the PR and Communications strategy and plan that supports the AoA Brand strategy and enhances Audi Brand image and awareness
  • Development and implementation of an appropriate Audi Government Affairs strategy for North America in alignment with Audi AG and VWGoA and integration in communication master plan for AoA
  • Integrate Communications Strategy with Audi AG Communications and AoA Marketing
  • Direct and oversee all PR activities of Audi of America to achieve Brand communication goals
  • Direct the development of corporate communications and internal communications strategies and processes
  • Define and develop key media and leadership activities for select members of the AoA Leadership Team to help build Audi’s corporate image and heighten awareness for the Brand, targeting media, analysts, and business events
  • Align measurement techniques for PR/Communications activities and report progress to AoA Management Team and Audi AG

Stakeholder-Facing (20%)

  • Collaborate with the AoA Management Team to determine and convey appropriate brand-driven strategic messages
  • Represent AoA at PR events, political audiences and other public opportunities serving as the spokesperson for the Brand in all areas
  • Serve as the Audi Communications Department representative on the AoA Management Team
  • Create and lead internal/employee, National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and diversity communication effort

Advisory (10%)

  • Advise AoA Management Team on the PR implications of company strategy, plans and actions
  • Establish processes and procedures for crisis communications for AoA and the Communications team

Partnerships (5%)

  • Oversee all PR-related agency relationships
  • Manage all PR-related contracts and departmental budget
  • 15+ years
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related discipline
  • Master’s degree in related discipline (desired)
General Skills:

Specialized Skills:
  • 15 years of experience in Public Relations, Communications and Marketing with an emphasis on bringing multiple disciplines together
  • Hands-on experience with press relations and a working understanding of corporate communications, national and regional advertising,  promotions, collateral creation, trade shows and dealer operations
  • In-depth understanding of industry issues, PR processes & structure
  • Experience developing a relevant, sustainable and flexible Communications strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and present Communications positions and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with large and diverse groups, build consensus and establish an action plan for meeting objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in technology, digital, and social media space
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to create original content on a breadth of topics: social, economic, political, public policy
  • Understanding of government relations and the international political landscape/relations
  • Professional experience outside the automotive industry (desired)
  • Thorough knowledge of Audi products (desired)
  • Knowledge base of and experience with key external industry resources, and understanding of how Audi can leverage these associations (desired)
  • Ability to speak German (desired).
Work Flexibility:
  • Significant domestic and international travel
