We seek a Vice President with 8-10 years of health communications experience, proven media and advocacy skills and strong writing ability. Must have pharma/biotech experience, including understanding of early to mid-stage companies, data releases, FDA approval process, etc. Applicant should be detail oriented, demonstrate critical thinking and have agency experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage several accounts, which may include: developing strategic plans, overseeing and drafting a wide range of written materials, coordinating events, maintaining client and stakeholder contact
  • Act as a liaison between client, outside vendors and, as appropriate, other internal and external audiences (i.e., media, advocates, medical experts, other interest groups)
  • Expertise telling complex scientific stories to multiple audiences, including writing clinical press releases, supporting medical meetings and communications around regulatory milestones
  • Supervise and develop staff on various account projects and activities
  • Manage and monitor budgets for accounts and projects
  • Foster new business opportunities and lead proposal development and pitches

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Communications experience with proven media relations skills and strong writing ability
  • Pharma/biotech experience, including science communications and understanding of regulatory pathway
  • Understanding of the changing healthcare environment
  • Project management experience, demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and manage detailed budgets
  • Supervisory skills, with ability to manage and cultivate junior staff and effectively collaborate with subcontractors
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, oversee several tasks simultaneously and work both independently and as a team
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility and professional manner
  • Solid working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Substantial health communications experience

OTHER:

  • Travel may be required for this position (about 10% of time)
