Position Description:

ACEC is seeking an experienced, dynamic association professional as the Vice President, Advocacy Strategies.

The Vice-President, Advocacy Strategies will work with the Senior Vice President and the Advocacy team to broaden ACEC’s network on Capitol Hill and in the Administration and build out strategies for greater engagement and influence with key influencers and decision-makers.

Duties:

 

1.                 Provide lobbying support on infrastructure, procurement, international policy, environmental initiatives, federal procurement and other industry priorities consistent with ACEC’s Strategic Plan goals.

2.                 Build bipartisan relationships through lobbying and political engagement to support ACEC’s advocacy goals.

3.                 Enhance ACEC’s engagement with the White House and key federal agencies.

4.                 Work closely with the Vice President of Political Affairs and the PAC Director to ensure that ACEC’s political program is aligned effectively with advocacy goals and building bipartisan relationships.

5.                 Work with other ACEC departments to provide support in the areas of strategic communication, business education programming, and member recruitment.

6.                 Work with the Advocacy and Communications team to deliver strategic messaging to targeted audiences in support of building support for ACEC advocacy objectives and growing the influence and footprint of ACEC and engineering in Washington and nationally.

7.                 Work with ACEC MO executive directors to engage key members and their constituents in their home districts in support of ACEC advocacy objectives.

8.                 Focus on the current majority party in Congress to develop and maintain relationships with key officials and their staff.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates for the position should have strong messaging, networking, and strategic skills promoting policy and political objectives.
  • The candidate has established a strong network in political and policy circles.
  • Experience working with congressional committees and federal agencies, with particular emphasis on issues and programs related to infrastructure, regulatory matters, tax policy, energy and environmental issues, and other relevant areas that affect the engineering industry.
  • Candidates should also demonstrate strong political skills.
  • Campaign experience is a plus. Capitol Hill, agency and/or related industry experience required.
  • Knowledge of the engineering industry, infrastructure, and the built environment a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science or equivalent, graduate degree is a plus.
