The Kite Vice President, Global Head of Public Affairs is responsible for asserting Kite’s leadership in Cell Therapy.  This position will create and execute global strategies to communicate both internally and externally about Kite’s research and development efforts, growing product portfolio, patient advocacy efforts and partnerships, and community engagement and support.  This leader will partner closely with leaders throughout Kite including the CEO of Kite, Commercial Product Strategy, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, and the Kite Leadership Team.  This position partners closely with the Gilead Public Affairs team to effectively leverage regional/country teams to help inform cross-functional priorities and drive tailored implementation at a local level.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead a global team to drive communications about Kite’s Cell Therapy portfolio and pipeline. Set a vision and priorities for the team, provide direction as well as hands-on support as needed, and ensure team members have development opportunities and continue to grow in their careers at Gilead

  • Engage with leaders in Global Commercial Product Strategy, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and Government Affairs to help drive cross-functional strategy and tactical plans that assert Kite’s ongoing leadership in and commitment to Cell Therapy

  • Integrate information from across both Kite and Gilead to ensure a comprehensive narrative on Cell Therapy leadership can be communicated across external and internal audiences in a compelling and consistent way

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to horizon scan and proactively address emerging issues with an important focus on the policy / political environment

  • Design and implement disease awareness programs that inform and mobilize people living with cancer who may be eligible for Cell Therapy treatment

  • Support ongoing Yescarta and Tecartus launch rollouts around the world with globally aligned messages and outreach

  • Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement on all programs related to Cell Therapy including corporate communications, community engagement and corporate giving. Programs will include corporate advertising, corporate website and intranet content development, advocacy group engagement, funding opportunity announcements, among others

  • Maintain relationships with key top-tier and trade reporters to shape reporting on Kite’s product portfolio, pipeline and patient support

  • Manage PR agency partners by providing agency teams with appropriate information and oversight to effectively implement programs in compliance with business conduct policies

  • Manage budgets to target, ensuring appropriate investment in priority work and identifying ways to optimize resources

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma and 22 years of experience, OR
  • Bachelors Degree and 20 years of experience, OR
  • Masters Degree and 18 years of experience, OR
  • PhD and 16 years of experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15+ years of experience leading Public Affairs, Public Relations, Investor Relations strategies and teams

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies

  •  Demonstrated experience driving both internal and external communications plans that support business priorities

  • Experience leading teams and supporting both team performance and individual team members’ development

  • Expertise in media relations and issues management

  • Experience developing information distribution plans that include a broad audience including senior management, academic experts and patient advocates

  • Ability to influence others and drive alignment across diverse teams

  • A passion for engaging in public health and policy issues

  • Prior experience in oncology communications, advocacy, government affairs, marketing or medical affairs is required.

  • Cell Therapy experience is a plus.

  • Experience and a thorough understanding of the US market access environment

  • Experience working outside of the US

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations governing communications for a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company
