BSA | The Software Alliance seeks an accomplished professional to lead global public affairs as the voice of the software industry. The Vice President, Global Public Affairs will help drive the growth and visibility of a complex, global advocacy organization in supporting its members and elevating the perspective of the software industry.  The Vice President, Global Public Affairs will lead a small team of communications professionals located in DC and Brussels and will report to the President & CEO.


Professional Experience and Qualifications:

  • 12+ years’ experience leading successful advocacy communications strategy, including issue campaigns, plus current senior-level management and budget experience.
  • Private sector experience, ideally in the technology industry.
  • Experience in skillfully navigating the media terrain.
  • Experience in translating complex issues to a policymaker audience.
  • Track record of developing multi-stakeholder or multi-industry events.
  • Proven ability to manage internal and external resources and oversee multiple communications programs across multiple markets.
  • Keen interest in technology; understanding of industry issues is a plus.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advancing the strategic objectives of BSA and its members via compelling and relevant messages to key government and industry audiences. 
  • Developing US-focused and global communications campaigns to drive software industry messaging to policymakers and media.
  • Developing earned media policy campaigns aimed at tier-one media outlets and opinion-makers.
  • Expanding BSA’s leadership footprint with new perspectives shared through executive thought leadership, dynamic events, compelling collateral, and key speaking platforms, including the BSA Foundation, 
  • Leading a team based in DC and Brussels as well as external public relations agencies in the Americas, Europe, and India.
  • Forging strong relationships with communications and public affairs counterparts in member companies. 
  • Keeping an eye on the horizon for significant emerging issues and opportunities.
