Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Vice President, Government Affairs for Sentara’s Health Plans.
The VP of Government Relations will develop and lead both internal and external strategic state and federal government relations initiatives to support the mission and strategic goals of Sentara Health Plans, comprised of Optima Health and Virginia Premier. This individual will also lead efforts regarding health policy, and he/she will educate government officials relative to Sentara Health Plans’ legislative priorities. This position partners with internal clinical, legal and operations leaders to help develop the health plan’s legislative and regulatory policy positions. The VP will support the overall function of Sentara’s Government and Community Relations department by assisting the departmental teams responsible for community development, communications and special system projects. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations for Sentara Healthcare.

3 years experience in health policy and/or advocacy at a state or federal level, or 5 years experience working in public or regulatory affairs in hospital administrations or operations or in the health insurance industry. Must have superior writing and editing skills, strategic thinking capabilities, political sensibility, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Will require lobbyist registration.
