The Vice President of Government Affairs oversees yes. every kid. efforts in key states across the country including coalition management, lobbying, and grassroots organizing. The yes. every kid.’s leadership team and other stakeholders to develop tactics and strategies that advance the vision of the organization.
The yes. every kid. team is remote with an optional in-person office in Arlington, VA.
Your Responsibilities Include
- You will manage a team of lobbyists and align them to our Vision for public policy advocacy strategies to pass state legislation aligned with our Vision
- In collaboration with the yes. every kid. leadership team you will develop and execute our multi-state lobbying strategy to advance our mission
- You will develop and execute specialized projects on an ad hoc basis
Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization
- You have demonstrated experience cultivating relationships with high-profile individuals
- You have lobbied at the state government level
- You have experience managing lobbyists in remote work environments
- You have experience connecting individuals and groups to shared Vision and goals and have demonstrated experience building consensus to execute a goal
- You can travel up to 50% of the time, depending on the need
- You’re able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, remote environment
- You’re able to capture input and support from multiple stakeholders and communities to help remove barriers for students
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit that is focused on value creation for the organization and improving society
- You’re committed to and excited by the Vision of yes. every kid.
Standout Candidates May Also Bring
- You have 10-15 combined years of relevant experience
- You’ve worked in a legislative or executive branch at the state or federal level
yes. every kid. advocates for changes to K-12 education that help students discover, develop, and apply their unique abilities, establishing a foundation for a life of contribution and fulfilment. Every student should have access to a quality education that helps them move forward on the path to self-actualization.
