The Vice President, Head of State, Local & Community Relations, US Public Policy will be a direct report of the SVP; Head of Corporate & Government Affairs, North America Public Policy. This role will drive positive policy outcomes at the state and local levels, align our community relations resources with corporate priorities and existing stakeholder partnerships, and lead campaigns to support Strategic Growth in cities across the country.


  • Oversee state and municipal-level lobbying, community relations, and government business development support.
  • Align advocacy operations with community relations engagements to deliver (i) policy victories at the state level, (ii) enhance our reputation at the community level, and (iii) support new lines of business in NAM.
  • Create campaigns that leverage political allies, third party partners, and the media to capitalize on new opportunities at the state and local level.
  • Create a pipeline of programs at the state and local level to connect MSG, NAM Inclusive Futures, MYC efforts.
  • Work closely with federal lobbying team to support targeted policymaker outreach and third party development.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at the community and municipal level to enhance business opportunities.
  • Engage in direct lobbying in state capitols.
  • Deliver thought leadership to influential national and local industry organizations.
  • Properly evaluate national stakeholders the purpose of building comprehensive campaigns at the state and local levels, as well as the federal level where applicable.
  • Manage and lead a unified state and local advocacy program, which includes comprehensive community relations initiatives.

All About You

  • Demonstrated prior experience in lead roles in Community Relations and/or State lobbying.
  • Experience in managing advocacy campaigns.
  • Experience working with inter-governmental organizations
  • Experience managing high performing teams in separate locations.
  • Ability to travel 50%+.
  • Previous experience in a corporation or trade association.
  • Expertise navigating community affairs, government relations, and media relations.
  • Effective communicator who can write and explain complicated issues in simple terms.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
