Director of Public Affairs & Communications Position

Are you ready to contribute to building a better future? At ROCKWOOL, the world’s most sustainable building material company in 2023, we are seeking a Director of Public Affairs & Communications based in the northeastern U.S. to join our team. This remote role, reporting to the V.P. of Business Development, involves up to 30% travel and includes one direct report.

Join a passionate team focused on sustainability, climate change, and fire safety, including professionals such as the Public Affairs Manager, Sustainability Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Sr. Manager of Sustainable Solutions, and others.

What You Will Be Doing

As Director of Public Affairs & Communications, you will:

  • Develop, own, and execute North American public affairs and communications strategies.
  • Drive agendas with external stakeholders to advance organizational goals.
  • Represent the organization’s values to external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity.
  • Monitor and influence major initiatives at relevant government levels.
  • Develop relationships with key media outlets and manage internal communications.
  • Provide crisis management leadership, communication, and coordination.
  • Keep the organization informed about relevant policies, incentives, and trends.
  • Participate in organizations and events to grow the market for ROCKWOOL products.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to assess the effectiveness of public affairs and communications programs.
  • Maintain fiscal control of department funds and support budget objectives.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in public policy and communications.
  • 5+ years of private sector experience, preferably in the Building Materials industry with a focus on sustainability.
  • Degree in Business, Public Policy, or Communications (Masters degree is an asset).
  • Established network in Washington D.C. and key states.
  • First-hand knowledge of legislative processes, government workings, and public policy.
  • Technical aptitude for construction and building materials.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional written and public speaking skills.
