Summary of Role

The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) is a nonpartisan public policy organization serving as the voice of U.S. public company auditors and matters related to the audits of public companies. The CAQ promotes high-quality performance by U.S. public company auditors; convenes capital market stakeholders to advance the discussion of critical issues affecting audit quality, U.S. public company reporting, and investor trust in the capital markets; and using independent research and analyses, champions policies and standards that bolster and support the effectiveness and responsiveness of U.S. public company auditors and audits to dynamic market conditions.


Research and Communications Manager

The Research and Communications Manager collaborates with a talented team of mission-driven individuals to demonstrate the importance of audits and assurance to the capital markets and beyond. This role builds the case for auditors to expand their purview beyond traditional financial audits to encompass emerging areas of assurance, such as environmental, social, cybersecurity risk management, and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate for this role enjoys exploring intricate subjects, comprehending stakeholder viewpoints, and transforming insights into compelling content that motivates action.


Responsibilities

Research

  • Collaborate across the CAQ to identify and prioritize research opportunities, developing a stakeholder research agenda.
  • Manage third-party agencies in executing the research agenda.
  • Conduct stakeholder-driven research to gain insights informing organizational strategy, driving campaign planning and execution, including secondary research, message testing, and online focus groups.
  • Design and implement qualitative and quantitative research projects to enhance CAQ stakeholder engagement, public policy objectives, and talent priorities.
  • Manage data-driven thought leadership initiatives by conducting research, collaborating on content development, and participating in marketing projects addressing critical issues in the audit profession.

Project Management

  • Design strategic research to inform public affairs campaigns prioritized by the CAQ.
  • Develop persuasive messaging and materials for CAQ initiatives based on research insights.
  • Identify emerging issues and effectively manage project deliverables.
  • Oversee commissioned research projects from scope development to publication of findings.

Communications

  • Identify innovative strategies for integrating CAQ issues into public discourse to support the organization’s mission by leveraging research.
  • Assist in proactive communication efforts with the Sr. Manager, Communications to showcase CAQ thought leadership with key stakeholder audiences.
  • Generate proactive opportunities to highlight CAQ thought leadership in coordination with the Sr. Manager, Communications.
  • Track trends in media coverage of key policy issues to capitalize on opportunities and gauge effectiveness of our efforts.
  • Develop talking points and materials based on research insights.
  • Monitor daily media coverage with a focus on key issues affecting the auditing profession.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Required Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to CAQ staff, members’ staff, and other key constituencies.

Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education

  • Experience at a polling, political consultancy, campaign, communications or marketing firm a plus but not required.
