### About the Job
We are seeking an Associate – Public Affairs to join our dynamic Complex Communications Advisory team. This role is ideally suited for individuals with a passion for monitoring US policy and regulatory developments and working with leading businesses to solve the challenges and opportunities those developments present. Previous experience in public affairs and/or communications firms is desired. Candidates should possess a nuanced understanding of the political landscape alongside exceptional research and writing skills. This role offers the opportunity to advise clients on critical legislative and/or regulatory matters while working within a larger collaborative team focused on crisis communications, corporate campaigns, and industry-specific matters.
### Location
Washington, DC (hybrid, with a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office)
### Responsibilities
– Work directly with and learn from a group of senior experts within a flat organizational structure
– Be part of a core team focused on advising companies and multinational organizations to navigate significant threats to their enterprise value and reputation, including major legislative or regulatory changes
– Work in teams that may include U.S. government relations professionals and members of our international offices
– Develop first drafts of an array of client-specific communications content (e.g., background and strategy memos, talking points, Q&A documents, marketing materials)
– Conduct in-depth research into legislative and policy developments at the federal, state, and local levels
– Participate significantly in supporting business development initiatives, including conducting research on prospective clients as part of a growing team and supporting client pitches
– Work on an array of project types, from fast-paced matters to long-term reputation management campaigns for some of the most mission-critical issues a company can face
– Grow your skills as a problem solver, becoming comfortable operating independently and seeking counsel at the appropriate time

### Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required
– One to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in public affairs, advocacy campaigns, and/or strategic communications – from internships, at an agency or in-house, or provide evidence that you possess the capabilities of someone having that level of experience
– Political acumen and understanding of US legislative processes, policy, and related stakeholders
– Comfortable dealing with the most senior people within the organization
– Exceptional attention to detail and writing skills
– Highly collaborative working style
– Excellent research and analysis skills
– Excellent skills using Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
– Capable with Excel and comparable programs
– Experience with conversation monitoring tools such as Meltwater, Brandwatch, Signal, as well as government and/or legal databases such as the Bloomberg Terminal, Factset, Refinitiv, PACER is preferred
