The Vice President and Director of Policy plays a pivotal role at the core of our organization’s strategic decision-making and program development. This position serves as the linchpin for shaping and executing projects across a range of policy issues. The role requires an understanding of geopolitical complexities and a proven track record in effective policy analysis and program management. This person is a key figure in a small team who will help devise the overall issue engagement strategy for the Center and lever a personal network of professional connections to enhance our policy impact.

About CSPC

CSPC is a non-profit, non-partisan convener of leaders and experts from the government, private sector, and academia working to foster bipartisan solutions to our nation’s most pressing challenges, often with a national security focus.

Requirements

Policy Portfolio Oversight:

  • Lead and manage the comprehensive portfolio of CSPC research programs, including geotech, defense and government procurement, transatlantic security, indo-pacific strategy, and economic security.
  • Drive new initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission while staying attuned to evolving trends and implications.
  • Operationalize new ideas by identifying funding sources, tasking researchers, and implementing work plans, with support of the CSPC senior fellow network.
  • Disseminate CSPC’s research and policy perspectives through in-depth reports, published op-eds, press interviews, policy briefs, and convenings.
  • Analyze the intricate workings of the executive and legislative branches.

Fundraising and Donor Relationship Management

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure funding for program initiatives, forging strong relationships with potential donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify funding opportunities, create compelling proposals, and ensure alignment between partner expertise and organizational goals.

Management Responsibilities

  • Oversee program management, ensuring successful execution and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate and execute high-level events centered around policy discussions, conferences, and forums, with primary focus on curated off-the-record convening.
  • Support key internal functions, including budget oversight, resource allocation, and operational planning, in coordination with senior leadership.

Position Qualifications:

  • Six to ten years of experience in policy implementation or analysis within governmental, think tank, or relevant corporate environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful leadership in managing multifaceted teams and driving organizational objectives, ideally within a policy-focused or related environment.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting, allocation, and oversight.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, fostering consensus-building, and navigating internal organizational dynamics.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability amid evolving priorities and unforeseen challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, international relations, political science, or a related field.
