RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers, is seeking a government affairs professional to join its global government affairs team.
About the Role
Your role is to identify potential legislative risks in Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil and Mexico. Your efforts will be geared towards advocating for favorable laws and regulations that facilitate responsible business growth. Working collaboratively with other teams will be essential to achieving this goal. **We are open for candidates in Washington, DC, Brazil, Mexico, or Florida.
Responsibilities
- Identifying legislative and regulatory proposals of concern through legislative tracking and monitoring.
- Developing and implementing effective government affairs strategies in the region.
- Lobbying on behalf of the company and its businesses.
- Leading consultants to achieve public policy objectives and business development opportunities.
- Participating in industry coalitions and trade associations to promote public policy objectives.
- Leveraging support from coalitions and trade associations to effectively lobby on priority issues.
- Building effective advocacy strategies on priority issues.
- Representing the company before Legislative and Executive Branch officials and other civil society stakeholders.
Requirements
- Have an educational background in business, government, politics, or law after a bachelor’s program is advantageous.
- Possess extensive experience in global government affairs or public policy.
- Possess extensive government affairs experience in Latin America, including understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
- Be fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
- Possess influencing skills that can be used to effectively coordinate projects and drive initiatives.
- Be an effective communicator with excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Demonstrate a track record of success in coalition and trade association building and collaboration. Have experience directing consultants.
- Be skilled at advocacy, known for it, and have access to important lawmakers and regulators.
- Be able to travel internationally.
