We’re currently hiring a full-time Public Relations Associate, Strategic Engagement that enjoys planning and implementing communications campaigns.

This role requires a public affairs and/or strategic communications background and experience in supporting campaigns and initiatives that enhance awareness, action, or understanding of a certain topic. Technology and cybersecurity experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead planning initiatives related to large-scale speaking engagements on behalf of CISA.

  • Facilitate collaboration across the agency to integrate the Director’s vision, coordinate planning activities and messaging, and ensure the timely delivery of materials.
  • Support coordination of streamlined management review and oversight of public speaking and meeting requests for CISA senior leadership.
  • Support the review, assignment (with approval from Government staff), de-confliction, and prioritization of meeting and speaking requests.

2. Conduct research to gather pertinent information needed to evaluate meeting and speaking requests.

  • Schedule and hold calls with external partners, prepare briefing memos, talking points, and background information to support leadership’s strategic engagements.

3. Coordinate leadership and program liaison review and oversight of public speaking and meeting requests.

  • Perform clerical functions associated with EA leadership engagement activities such as preparing weekly and monthly reports, tracking leadership commitments and decisions related to engagement opportunities, updating shared calendars, arranging and participating in planning calls, and scheduling meetings.

4. Onsite support for up to five (5) conferences and tradeshows per year:

  • Research information about possible room setup, audiovisual equipment, accessibility needs and services, and other on-site meeting needs.
  • Provide onsite support to include registration support, handling general information, inquiries, and requests from speakers and participants, coordinating onsite logistics, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Support presentations and assist speakers in exhibit activities.
  • Manage giveaways and swag distribution.
  • Support setup and closing down of the exhibit.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently holds, or is able to obtain, DHS Fitness Determination.
  • BS/BA in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience:
    • Assisting in the planning for the strategic direction and development of comprehensive PR campaigns.
    • Working with client and project team members.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills, especially written.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • PR agency, corporate, or government agency experience preferred.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Job Location(s):

This is a hybrid position centered in the Washington, DC metro area, requiring occasional on-site support to the client’s facility located in Arlington, VA, as well as travel to tradeshows within the United States 2-5 times per year.

Pay Range:

There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and competencies that align with the specified role, geographic location, education, and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$47,717.00 – $81,118.00 Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
