The National Dairy FARM Program, administered by the National Milk Producers Federation, assists U.S. dairy farmers in their commitment to on-farm social responsibility and provides dairy customers and consumers assurances of that commitment.
The FARM Communications Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing and producing a range of communications and marketing materials to enhance awareness and engagement among stakeholders. This position involves project management, creating, editing, and maintaining content such as e-newsletters, articles, news releases, and various presentations in collaboration with FARM Program Area leaders and the Executive Director.
Requirements
What you will do:
- Develop, copy-edit, produce, and maintain FARM Program content, including monthly and quarterly e-newsletters, dairy publication articles, news releases, topic briefs, slide deck presentations, proposals/abstracts, and related materials as directed by FARM Program Area leads and prioritized in collaboration with FARM’s Executive Director.
- Develop and execute a content calendar to achieve outlined FARM Program resource development and engagement goals as outlined by FARM Program Area Leads.
- Ensure on-time publication through management of regularly scheduled FARM program materials on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Manage communications/marketing vendor relationships, including those that support the FARM Program website, social media and resource development and other communications properties with direction from FARM Program Area leads.
- Coordinate outreach to FARM Program stakeholders and primarily FARM Program evaluators through project oversight of agenda development, slide curation, securing speakers, and potentially emceeing meetings in conjunction with FARM Program Area leads.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy and breadth of distribution lists through Delivra and Salesforce.
- Manage FARM Program audio and visual resources.
- Provide communications support through issues management related to on-farm social responsibility.
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with key agricultural/dairy media outlets for opportunity generation for the FARM Program to advance FARM and dairy’s story to broader audiences.
- Assist other NMPF communications staff as needed with shared communications responsibilities, including assistance with the daily news alert and jointly branded publications.
- Occasional travel for industry related events.
What you have done:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least 3-4 years of related field of study or equivalent experience at a trade association or agricultural organization.
- Experience in content development, writing, editing and proofreading.
- Experience and proficiency in project management
- Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and in a team environment to achieve communications/marketing goals with varying deadlines and degrees of importance.
- Experience with collaborative teamwork among internal staff, stakeholders, and contracted vendors
Skills for success:
- Ability to interact, engage confidently and communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute upon necessary work streams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with agriculture and/or the dairy industry and on-farm production strongly preferred.
- Ability to establish relationships with agricultural publications and industry stakeholders (farmers, cooperatives, processors, customers).
- Ability to use Microsoft Office 365 products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Delivra, and Photoshelter or similar programs.
- Familiarity with photography, video and graphic design preferred.
