Third Way Economic Policy Advisor Position

Third Way is seeking an Economic Policy Advisor with a focus on fiscal issues. This role entails devising, advocating, and explaining center-left policy solutions to address the national debt and promote economic prosperity. Responsibilities include unpacking and analyzing economic data, communicating findings through various channels, and collaborating internally and externally to advance pragmatic policy ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting research and analysis on federal budget, tax, and economic issues
  • Authoring reports, memos, data visualizations, and op-eds
  • Analyzing proposed policy ideas and their impacts
  • Meeting with external partners including Capitol Hill and Administration staff
  • Collaborating with internal teams on events and digital content
  • Developing expertise on fiscal policy issues

Job Requirements

  • Understanding of US economic and fiscal policymaking
  • Experience with federal budget data analysis
  • Ability to write clearly on complex topics for non-experts
  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in a relevant field plus work experience

  • Incorporate style guide and production process into work

  • Develop advocacy and educational products
  • Attend external meetings and events

Within 3 months:

  • Feel comfortable with team and work
  • Attend departmental meetings with a deeper understanding of goals
  • Publish a public-facing product and promote it
  • Bring new ideas to manager meetings
  • Complete 90-day self-evaluation and performance review
  • Establish long-term goals with manager

Third Way requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The position offers a flexible, hybrid work environment based in Washington, DC, with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
