Public Relations Specialist

Job Description:
We are looking for a creative, passionate, and energetic public relations professional to join the growing GDIT corporate marketing and external communications team. As a Public Relations Specialist, you will develop, support, and execute strategic PR campaigns and initiatives for GDIT. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a creative marketing and external communications team to create best-in-class PR campaigns that enhance GDIT’s brand. This position would be ideal for a creative, out-of-the-box thinker with a public relations, journalism, or communications background.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the PR manager in executing strategic and measurable PR campaigns that align with overarching company growth and brand goals.
  • Build close relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including technical subject matter experts, business development/growth, and operational teams.
  • Write/edit press releases, pitches, media advisories, talking points, thought leadership articles, social media posts, and other PR copy.
  • Develop relationships with key reporters and editors.
  • Coordinate and manage media requests.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies and media partners.
  • Report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns by assessing key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Compile and distribute information for GDIT’s daily newsletter.
  • Support crisis communications efforts, as needed.
  • Prepare presentations for media briefings and other meetings.
  • Monitor competitor and industry media coverage on key programs, trends, and technologies.
  • Support other PR and marketing activities, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline with 2+ years of experience or 6+ years of relevant workplace experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of PR campaigns.
  • Strong and highly effective writing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Within commuting distance of GDIT Falls Church headquarters.
