Work to Achieve Regulatory and Policy Environment
Work to achieve a regulatory and policy environment that supports high quality, patient-centered, affordable, and accessible care for individuals with chronic kidney disease or kidney failure, organ donors, transplant recipients, and their care partners.
Identify and Review Federal Regulations
Identify and review federal regulations, policy statements, guidance documents, payment initiatives, and other federal activities related to the identification and treatment of chronic kidney disease, end-stage renal disease, organ donation and transplantation, and other issues of interest to NKF.
Develop Written Analyses and Assessments
Develop written analyses and strategic assessments, comment letters, and other communications related to federal regulations, governmental studies, reports, and academic research.
Cultivate Relationships with Federal Agencies
Cultivate relationships with relevant federal agency staff and leadership to inform and advance NKF’s policy agenda.
Lead and Manage Coalition for Kidney Health
Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Coalition for Kidney Health, including identifying coalition priorities, coordinating coalition meetings, developing coalition resources, managing member communication, and other activities as needed.
Advance Policy Strategies
Identify and advance policy strategies to incentivize patient-centered kidney care in novel health care arrangements including value-based purchasing programs, Medicare Advantage, and emerging payment models.
Subject Matter Expertise
Serve as subject matter expert on the adoption of quality measures in commercial health plan systems (i.e., HEDIS), and across federal health programs, including MIPS. Advise on strategies to advance NKF’s quality agenda.
Support Senior Vice President for Government Relations
Support the Senior Vice President for Government Relations in preparing and briefing senior staff/leadership, health care professionals, patient volunteers, the media, and the public on policy issues.
Support Congressional Relations Director
Support the Congressional Relations Director to build support for NKF’s legislative priorities.
Engage Field Staff and Volunteers
Support and engage NKF field staff and volunteers to advance state, local, and federal policy initiatives.

Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL POSSESS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Curiosity, passion, collaborative spirit, solutions orientation, and work ethic to deliver.
- Experience and deep understanding of public health, health policy, regulations, reimbursement, and quality improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a diverse team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
