Over the past few decades, Loevy + Loevy’s legal advocacy has had a sizable impact on civil rights in the United States. We have uncovered widespread practices of police and prosecutorial misconduct in cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston. We have won record-breaking wrongful conviction verdicts for innocent exonerees. We have forced the public release of pivotal police video footage and government reports. We have secured verdicts and injunctions for prisoners denied their constitutional rights. And we have championed class actions on behalf of protestors. We also have, and continue to develop, other practice areas that align with our values, such as cases addressing privacy rights and general tort claims.

### Core Responsibilities

– Develop and execute Loevy + Loevy’s overall communications strategy in collaboration with firm leadership and the communications team.
– Direct all digital and external communications for 100-person public interest law firm.
– Manage organizational media strategy, including drafting press releases, building reporter relationships, and organizing client-centered press conferences.
– Coordinating with attorneys and staff regarding communications strategy.
– Serve as lead internal writer on communications-related collateral across a variety of media, including website, public statements, marketing materials, and other assets.
– Oversee the creation and production of social media content calendar and blog posts.
– Curate, maintain, and expand website to reach new audiences, drive SEO growth, and highlight our legal wins and clients’ stories.
– Work with attorneys to develop case-specific media strategies that advance litigation goals.
– Maintain brand and messaging unity and integrity across all digital channels.
– Expand, deepen, and cultivate our relationships with civil rights partners across the country.
– Maintain and update digital and print promotional and informational assets.
– Monitor engagement metrics and content performance on social media and web.

### Preferred Qualifications

– 4+ years of communications, journalism, or marketing experience.
– Experience supervising and directing consultants / contract workers.
– Excellent interpersonal, spoken, and written communication skills.
– Team player with ability to collaborate internally and externally with diverse advocates.
– Successful track record in managing and executing media campaigns across various channels and to multiple audiences.
– Deep commitment to criminal legal reform and social justice.
– Experience with people-centered advocacy.
– Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
– Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required.

### Preferred Technical Skills

– Experience with social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
– Some experience with WordPress and/or Elementor.
– Familiarity with digital analytics, including Google Analytics and SEO.
– Knowledge of Hootsuite (or comparable social media management software).
– Experience with graphic design for social media and digital assets using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Express) and/or Canva.
– Knowledge of Google Workspace.
– Familiarity with photo and video editing.

### How To Apply

**Location:** Loevy + Loevy maintains a hybrid work environment, including working remotely and out of our office at 311 N. Aberdeen Street in Chicago, Illinois. This position will require that the Director of Communications be physically present in Chicago.

**Compensation:** The Director of Communications is a full-time position with a base salary starting at $70,000 per year plus bonuses and full benefits. Total compensation will be commensurate with experience and performance.
