### Team Introduction

We are looking for a talented, driven, and experienced government relations professional to support our growing TikTok e-commerce public policy team. The Public Policy Director, US E-Commerce will report to the Head, Americas E-Commerce Public Policy, and help lead TikTok e-commerce policy efforts at the US Federal level that are critical to the success of the business.

We are looking for a professional with e-commerce expertise to work cross-functionally across the company and provide strategic advice to the business, analyze relevant legislation and regulation at the US federal and state level, and work with government relations colleagues to advocate on policies impacting the business.

### Responsibilities

– Proactively identify and address legislative and regulatory trends at the US federal level for issues impacting e-commerce, with emphasis on consumer protection and cross-border trade.
– Work with internal and external counsel and government affairs experts to stay ahead of and on top of evolving regulations, legislation, and other legal requirements in the US.
– Advise cross-functional legal and product colleagues on US e-commerce policy trends, including providing public policy feedback to cross-functional business, legal, and public relations teams.
– Provide internal cross-functional public policy advice, including identifying potential risks and opportunities and strategizing solutions for new policies and products.
– Ensure that e-commerce public policy external communications are accurate and comprehensible to a general audience. This requires the ability to precisely translate and clearly communicate complex topics into more relatable explanations.
– Analyze and explain TikTok’s e-commerce services to external audiences while setting and maintaining a high ethical standard.
– Represent TikTok to elected officials and government agencies engaged in e-commerce policy making on issues of importance to our company and the people who use the service.
– Support cross-functional engagement of third-party public interest groups, industry associations, and thought leaders engaged in technology and e-commerce policy issues.
– Represent TikTok at industry gatherings, trade associations, and coalition meetings.

### Qualifications

**Minimum Qualifications:**

– Dedicated professional experience with extensive government or private sector experience in shaping e-commerce public policies, with an emphasis in areas of consumer protection and cross-border trade.
– Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Government, Public Affairs, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
– Deep understanding of the key public policy issues that impact e-commerce with an emphasis in consumer protection and/or cross-border trade.
– Strong advocacy skills and a record of success influencing desired outcomes in a complex environment.
– Experience working across multiple functions, influencing, and collaborating with others to successfully implement programs and initiatives; history of successful cross-functional team and leadership collaboration.
– Outstanding internal and external collaboration and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment.
– Analyzes public policy landscape and emerging and/or expected trends in laws or regulations impacting e-commerce and provides expert public policy advice and guidance to cross-functional colleagues on the same.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

– JD or Advanced Degree preferred, not required.
– Previous experience in a global company is a plus.

### Job Information

**For Pay Transparency**

Compensation Description (salaried): The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $135,360 – $239,400 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
