Full-Time Position

Associates conduct in-depth research and produce detailed summaries of health policy issues. Associates are an integral part of the client project team. Applied Policy, a rapidly growing healthcare consultancy, is expanding and looking for a self-motivated professional who can assist with an existing portfolio of clients and help expand our business.

Our Applied Policy services help organizations improve the lives of people by transforming intention into action. We apply our expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and Health Insurance Exchanges to help our clients improve the lives of the people they serve—whether they are sick, disabled, or are working to stay well.

We are hiring associate and senior associate level individuals. These positions will focus on issues confronting manufacturers, payers, providers, suppliers, and patients throughout a product’s lifecycle. Leveraging our expertise in health policy and reimbursement, we evaluate our clients’ existing products and pipeline, and provide strategic market access and policy guidance to integrate with business planning and support adoption and market access.

This position will assist our clients in anticipating, assessing, and navigating changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and the evolving healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research supporting strategic market access and policy guidance for clients.
  • Analyze health policy documents to determine direct business implications for clients.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to contribute to the development and delivery of projects to clients.
  • Draft PowerPoint presentations, written summaries, and white papers tailored to the needs of individual clients.
  • Regularly act as project manager responsible for meeting deadlines and stewarding projects to successful completion.
  • Present information to clients in a professional and confident manner.

Qualifications

Health Policy Associates will have a minimum of two years of health policy-related professional experience after undergraduate graduation, and Senior Health Policy Associates will have a minimum of five years of health policy-related professional experience after undergraduate graduation. Health policy experience with a federal agency, on Capitol Hill, or with a relevant private sector company are examples of the experience required.

Candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in health policy, public policy, healthcare management, public health, public administration, health economics, business administration, health sciences, or a relevant discipline. A related graduate degree and work experience or academic knowledge regarding the healthcare industry are beneficial.

Candidates will have:

  • Health Policy Associates will have at least two years of relevant health policy professional work experience post-graduation.
  • Senior Health Policy Associates will have at least five years of relevant health policy professional work experience post-graduation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health policy, public policy, healthcare management, public health, public administration, health economics, business administration, health sciences, or a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in and curiosity about complex health policy issues.
  • Advanced research skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Sound analytic, problem-solving, quantitative, and decision-making skills.
  • Client-oriented and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Proven team player; strong relationship-building skills both internally and externally.
  • Pursues continuous professional development through a high level of initiative coupled with quick learning ability and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Our office is located on the Old Town Alexandria, VA waterfront. Applied Policy has a flexible remote working policy; however, we have a preference for in-person interaction and expect the successful applicant to be in the office two to three days per week and available to meet with clients and teammates in person frequently.
