Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Health and Environment Programs to lead and guide our environmental health initiatives. This role is pivotal in shaping the long-term vision and sustainability of three key programs: Air Quality, Toxics, and Land Use and Health (LUH). The Director will be responsible for program development, strategic planning, staff management, fundraising, and organizational coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Coordination (60%):
- Lead the execution of current projects within the Air Quality, Toxics, and LUH programs.
- Mentor and manage program staff and interns, providing guidance in project management, advocacy, and staff development efforts.
- Drive strategic visioning and growth of the Health and Environment programs, fostering innovation and development.
- Foster collaboration with other program directors and staff to identify intersectional opportunities and efforts.
- Identify policy and legislative advocacy opportunities at local and state levels, cultivating relationships with potential champions and allies.
Fundraising and Grant Management (20%):
- Manage program budgets and grants, including proposal development, spending, and reporting.
- Explore and pursue new funding sources to ensure the sustainability of the Health and Environment programs.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with funders to secure ongoing support.
Organizational Coordination and Administration (20%):
- Lead the development of program work plans and contribute to organizational strategic planning.
- Collaborate with leadership and staff to ensure efficient operation and a supportive organizational culture.
- Develop strategies to engage health professional members in projects and campaigns.
- Coordinate with the communications team to promote program initiatives effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (MPH preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in the environmental health field.
- Minimum of 5 years in a director role.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and grant management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to social justice movements.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Commitment to PSR-LA’s mission and values.

Location
The position is based in Los Angeles, CA. We have been working remotely since the COVID-19 pandemic began; however, qualified applicants should reside in the Metro Los Angeles region and be able to access our Los Angeles-based office.
Compensation
Salary ranging from $95,000 – $102,000 based on experience. PSR-LA offers a robust benefits package that includes: 100% employer-paid platinum healthcare, dental, vision, chiropractic, and acupuncture for employees, spouses, and dependents. We have 13 paid holidays, 10+ days off at the end of the year in addition to 2 weeks PTO. We offer professional development, a $100 a month internet stipend, and a one-time $500 home office set-up stipend.
