Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills and ability to independently manage projects with multiple stakeholders.

About the Job

As a member of the Global Communications and Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to communicate with journalists and thought leaders, create specific communications materials and campaigns, engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers, and develop print and web-based materials supporting these campaigns. We’re looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person as well as through well-written blog posts, FAQs, video scripts, and more.

As a member of the YouTube Reputation and Responsibility team, you will support YouTube’s Trust and Safety efforts, leading several key policy areas that underpin the platform’s Community Guidelines. As the Policy Communications Manager, you will drive proactive narratives and storytelling around the economic, cultural, and societal impacts of YouTube’s creator economy, highlighting the legitimacy of these jobs and contributions.

Our role is to inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders, and employees about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive culture and values, and our approach to important public policy issues. Success here requires combining creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines, pitching to journalists, bloggers, and commentators, and producing internal communications and events for employees. Things happen quickly at Google, and being an enthusiastic team player who works cross-functionally and takes risks is essential.

Compensation

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $106,000–$156,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The displayed range reflects minimum and maximum target salaries across all US locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage proactive and reactive communications for a range of policy areas that underpin YouTube’s Community Guidelines, defining what’s allowed on the platform.
  • Support YouTube’s public reporting on transparency and enforcement measures, including the quarterly Community Guidelines Transparency Report.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects to showcase YouTube’s positive contributions to the economy, communities, and culture, including delivering an annual Impact Report with key metrics on YouTube’s positive contributions, including jobs and GDP.
  • Build relationships with key press and third-party stakeholders to advance YouTube’s reputational efforts and support the public policy team’s legislative priorities.
  • Partner with teams in public policy, legal, and marketing to manage press coverage, events, and reporter briefings. Note: this role includes weekend and holiday coverage.
