### Policy Advocate

The California Council for Environmental and Economic Balance (CCEEB) seeks a Policy Advocate to join our team at our Sacramento office.

The Policy Advocate will work closely with the President, Policy Director, Project Managers, Consultants, and CCEEB members. The scope of work will include project management, which will require scheduling, convening, and facilitating project meetings, regulatory tracking, briefing members, and advocating on agency rules, regulations, and plans.

Strong candidates will have project management experience, experience working for and/or with a California State agency, and environmental policy experience. Candidates will also be able and willing to advocate on highly visible issues of significant importance to the public, elected or appointed officials, and CCEEB members.

CCEEB works with a variety of stakeholders including environmental and environmental justice advocates, business leaders, trade associations, and labor organizations. The Policy Advocate must be able to positively engage and build lasting relationships with all stakeholders while representing the regulated community.

Some travel within California is required.

### Duties

– Help manage CCEEB projects, which includes, but is not limited to: scheduling meetings, planning meeting agendas, facilitating project meetings via video conference, coordinating tasks, schedules, and outreach to members and external stakeholders.
– Track development of proposed regulations, rules, plans, and policies; review technical documents and rulemaking packages.
– Analyze impacts of proposed and adopted rules, plans, and policies on CCEEB project teams and members.
– Provide focused research and technical analysis of policy issues related to agency activity.
– Prepare written comments and provide public testimony at agency proceedings, including board hearings, work groups, advisory committees, and workshops.
– Represent CCEEB and its membership effectively and persuasively.
– Actively participate in agenda planning, speaker selection, panel prep and facilitation, and other support for CCEEB annual conferences and special events, including legislative briefings.

This position requires excellent written, verbal, and public presentation skills along with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a very dynamic, sometimes ambiguous, and fast-paced environment. Our work includes public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy directly to state regulatory and legislative leaders.

CCEEB is governed by a board of directors comprised of business, labor, and public leaders who are committed to a collaborative process to develop consensus on innovative policy solutions. CCEEB staff promotes this culture of collaboration, consensus, and solutions-oriented effort into their everyday work.

### Salary and Benefits

– **Salary:** $130,000 annually
– **Benefits:** Employer-paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as a 401K Retirement Plan.
