Job Type: Full-time, exempt position

About ISEA

Over 125 million U.S. workers rely on personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear to stay safe, whether they’re in fields, on runways, or working at dizzying heights on communication towers. The International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) is the voice of this critical industry. For 90 years, we’ve been the driving force behind the development of ANSI-accredited standards, advocating for policies that improve worker safety, and providing essential insights and education on PPE and safety standards.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Advocacy & Regulatory Affairs Manager to join our team. You’ll play a vital role in advancing ISEA’s advocacy efforts, influencing policy, and driving regulatory changes that protect millions of workers. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advocacy, you’ll collaborate with ISEA members to shape the future of workplace safety. If you’re ready to make an impact in a meaningful and fast-paced industry, we want you on board!

What We Offer

  • Generous PTO and flexible working hours
  • Flexible hybrid work schedule
  • Excellent 401k match, healthcare, dental, and more
  • A fun, dedicated team of professionals passionate about making a difference

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocacy Strategy: Assist in developing and executing strategies to influence policymakers, regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH), and stakeholders to support ISEA’s advocacy initiatives.
  • Regulatory Filings & Testimony: Draft comments, filings, and testimony to present ISEA’s position on proposed regulations, legislative actions, and safety standards.
  • Member Engagement: Collaborate with ISEA member companies to understand their advocacy & regulatory needs, provide timely updates, and offer support in navigating policy changes.
  • Coalition Building: Partner with allied organizations and coalitions to drive advocacy initiatives that have a wider impact across related industries.
  • Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Stay on top of federal and state legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends that impact PPE and safety standards.
  • Event Planning & Representation: Attend and represent ISEA at key industry events, regulatory hearings, and advocacy meetings. Help organize briefings, conferences, and other advocacy-related events.

The Ideal Candidate

You’re a policy geek, and you’re proud of it. You get a thrill from tracking down a new regulation, diving into its implications, and figuring out how it impacts the industry. You love keeping tabs on what’s happening in Washington, D.C. and beyond, whether it’s a proposed OSHA rule or an unexpected legislative twist in the states. But you’re not just a behind-the-scenes operator—you’re a people person who can confidently explain complex policy in plain language to members, stakeholders, and policymakers alike.

Here’s what makes you the perfect fit:

  • Inquisitive by Nature: You never stop asking questions, and you’re driven to understand the finer details of policy decisions and regulations.
  • Master of Communication: You’re a pro at taking dense, technical topics and distilling them into something clear and engaging—whether it’s a briefing, a regulatory comment, or a conversation at a hearing.
  • Detail Obsessed: You have an eagle eye for the details. Nothing escapes your attention, whether it’s a nuance in a policy document or a small but important change in a regulation.
  • Organized & Proactive: You love staying one step ahead, juggling multiple projects, and ensuring deadlines are met. You’re not just reactive—you’re always thinking about what’s next.
  • Collaborative & Fun: Whether in a meeting or at an industry event, you know how to get people working together and keep things light with a sense of humor. You believe that advocacy can be fun—and you bring that energy with you wherever you go.
  • Passionate: You care about public policy and how it can improve and even save lives. You’re excited to play a part in making sure workers across the country have the protection they need on the job.

Educational Background

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or a related field that’s prepared you to understand the complexities of government and regulatory affairs.

Experience

You bring 3-5 years of experience in government affairs, regulatory affairs, or a similar field. Bonus points if you have experience including drafting regulatory comments, or in manufacturing, standards, or safety-related industries!

If this sounds like you, and you’re eager to make an impact in a field that touches millions of lives every day, we’d love to hear from you!

Working Conditions

This position may require occasional travel (approximately 10%) to industry events, member meetings, and conferences.
