Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will contribute to designing and implementing all aspects of Fannie Mae’s media and public relations policies, objectives, and initiatives.

The Impact You Will Make

The Sr. Public Relations Associate (Flex Hybrid) role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Work to expand external understanding and reach of the organization’s business, performance, and strategy, and of the Economic & Strategic Research (ESR) Group’s housing research and insights.
  • Manage media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities.
  • Evaluate and authorize all forms of communication regarding Fannie Mae for release to the public, with a particular focus on economic and financial communications.
  • Draft clear, concise messaging and assorted communications, including press releases and supporting materials for internal and external distribution.
  • Provide diligent editorial support for external-facing economic and housing research materials, including identifying and refining key messaging and takeaways for target audiences.
  • Help manage media inquiries and engagements with national and trade media, including facilitating interviews with Fannie Mae spokespeople.
  • Prepare summaries of media activity for key stakeholders.

Qualifications

The Experience You Bring to the Team

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 2 years of related experience drafting and editing technical content to make it accessible to a broad range of audiences.
  • Skilled in presenting complex information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
  • Demonstrated understanding of foundational modern economic and financial concepts and themes, with ability to articulate viewpoints on key messaging to executive leadership.

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, and/or Communications.
  • Significant coursework or experience in economics and finance strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with print or broadcast media.

Skills

  • Skilled in creating visual concepts, creating content, and editing content by hand or with computer software to communicate ideas.
  • Proficient in influencing skills, including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict.
  • Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion.
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas in an engaging, understandable way.
  • Knowledgeable in business resilience, including managing crisis events, assessing business impact, and planning for continuity.
  • Experienced in information retrieval, including fact gathering, conducting focus groups and interviews, and designing surveys.
  • Skilled in documentation and database reporting for analysis, data discovery, and decision-making, using software such as Crystal Reports, Excel, or SSRS.
  • Experienced in sales, marketing, and PR, including marketing products, social media marketing, creating collateral, planning and developing campaigns, and managing media.
  • Skilled in data analysis to identify trends or relationships to inform data-driven conclusions.
  • Knowledgeable in governance and compliance, including creating policies, evaluating compliance, conducting internal investigations, and developing data governance.
  • Proficient in relationship management, including engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, building networks, and contracting.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication, copywriting, and planning and distributing communication.
  • Business insight skills, including advising, designing business models, interpreting market insights, forecasting, and benchmarking.

Tools

  • Skilled in Workiva Wdesk for reporting and compliance.
  • Experience using PublicRelay, Cision, SharePoint, and PR Newswire.
  • Proficient in Excel, Adobe Acrobat (including Adobe Pro, Acrobat Reader, and Acrobat.com).
  • Skilled in Dynamic Signal, Box Software, and Google Analytics.
  • Experienced in scheduling software for booking events.
  • Proficient in Factiva for gathering business intelligence and research.
  • Experience using Workfront Fusion, Critical Mention, and OneNote.
  • Skilled in BrightEdge SEO.
