Freedman Consulting, LLC – Project Director, Technology Policy
Freedman Consulting, LLC, a mission-driven consulting firm, seeks a Project Director to support the firm’s technology policy practice area and related client efforts. The Project Director will conduct and direct client projects that include strategic advising and planning, policy development and analysis, coalition support, and client management.
The Project Director will lead a portfolio of projects featuring a wide variety of technology policy and related issues, potentially including artificial intelligence, platform regulation, competition, disinformation, the intersection of technology and disability, spyware, emerging technology policy issues, and more. The Project Director will join a growing team of almost 50 staff members working at the intersection of policy, philanthropy, and politics.

- Strategic planning and issue landscaping for major foundations
- Campaign advising and coordination for coalitions
- Policy development for advocacy and political campaigns
Our expertise spans topics including public-private partnerships, economic mobility, criminal justice reform, and technology policy.
Primary Responsibilities
The Project Director will advance technology policy-focused work streams and develop deliverables with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and driving project strategies and work plans for large-scale client projects
- Managing and supervising teams of associate-level staff and directing overall work planning and day-to-day tasks
- Providing strategic guidance and thought leadership to clients, Vice Presidents, and teams
- Directing client interactions, including facilitating meetings, calls, and presentations
- Conceptualizing, drafting, and editing a variety of client-facing materials, including large-scale reports, presentation decks, memos, and briefs
- Contributing to business planning and new business development, particularly within the tech policy portfolio
- Supporting the professional development of firm staff through team leadership and mentorship
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 7–10 years of policy, legislative, advocacy, consulting, communications, or research experience (with preference given to expertise in technology policy)
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Strong problem-solving acumen and demonstrated management capabilities
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills
- The ability to think critically and strategically about complex policy issues
- Resourcefulness in navigating ambiguity and obstacles
- Flexibility in responding to changing circumstances
- Skill in distilling complex information into clear, actionable insights
Compensation and Benefits
- Full salary range: $115,000 to $130,000
- Comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare, 401(k) profit sharing, paid vacation, personal and sick leave, and other valuable benefits
- Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and firm performance
Starting salary is determined based on knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and budget considerations.
