Position Summary
The Director of Corporate Relations will assume responsibility for strategic fundraising, sponsorship and advertising sales, generating corporate-derived revenue (e.g. from medical device and pharmaceutical companies) in support of the Society of Interventional Radiology. The Director of Corporate Relations will develop, direct, manage and implement programs and processes to meet the budgetary goals established for these revenue streams.
The applicant must have a firm understanding of the role medical specialty societies play in healthcare, especially where it relates to the interests of corporate stakeholders (e.g. intersociety relations, medical education, publications, practice development, health policy and economics).
A successful candidate will be able to effectively identify and leverage society initiatives that align with the priorities and product portfolios of corporate stakeholders. Familiarity (existing or acquired) with interventional radiology key opinion leaders, manufacturers and technologies will be required.
Position Functions and Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Direct the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Relations Department including supervising department staff (3+)
- Optimize all processes and programs to ensure operational excellence and revenue optimization
- Collaborate with vendors, internal and external stakeholders to accomplish departmental and organizational goals
Corporate Membership/Stewardship Program:
- Secure donations ($2M+ annually, or as budgeted) in support of SIR initiatives
- Administer the society’s corporate membership/stewardship program, through which its corporate partners are recognized for their support, and engaged collaboratively on the issues impacting the specialty
Educational Activities:
- Secure educational grants ($1M+ annually, or as budgeted) in support of SIR educational conferences and activities
- Oversee exhibit and sponsorship sales ($3M+ annually, or as budgeted) associated with educational conferences and activities
- Ensure a world-class sales, service, and onsite experience for all corporate stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with ACCME Standards for Commercial Support
- Direct the coordination of experiential learning activities (e.g. hands-on workshops, simulation) at SIR conferences
Advertising:
- Sell and manage, directly or via direct reports, digital advertising ($500K+ annually, or as budgeted) across SIR communication channels (e.g. website, mobile app, email blasts)
- Support external ad sales partners (e.g. publications) by providing strategic insight, sales contacts and leads
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Technical prowess to comfortably navigate a range of software tools used to manage stakeholder profiles, web presences, sales processes, digital advertising and forms
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders
- Ability to work on multiple projects, handle shifting priorities, challenging situations, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment with tact and diplomacy
Travel:
- Assume 20% of time spent traveling to effectively organize and/or attend internal and external meetings
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Certification in association, exhibition and/or conference management preferred
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible and directly relevant experience
- Proven record of securing/managing $6M+ in annual revenue (donations, sponsorships, advertising) through direct solicitation and solicitations of direct reports.
Location Requirements:

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Small, fast-paced open office environment with moderate noise levels. Use of phones and computers for extended periods of time. Utilize office equipment and communication technologies for conference calls and teleconference meetings/webinars. Requires general mobility to move through the facility. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members/board via phone, in person, email, and other mediums. Normal sitting and standing activities for an office environment. Travel is expected for this position.
