FischTank PR is seeking a hungry, experienced PR and communications professional to join FischTank PR as an Account Director. This role requires an individual with 6+ years of professional experience, preferably at an agency or in-house in a communications or PR-focused role. The candidate will support clients in FischTank’s Climate Tech/Sustainability and/or B2B/B2C Technology practices.

An Account Director (AD) at FischTank serves as the point person for day-to-day account and junior staff management while playing a major role in media outreach, strategy, content development/writing, and supporting other client campaign objectives. ADs are expected to run accounts autonomously with oversight from FischTank’s Senior Team, ensuring positive outcomes for both clients and team members.

This role is best suited for someone who is a self-starter and ambitious, looking to learn from experienced colleagues and engage with our established roster of clients.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience at a PR agency or in-house role working with Climate Tech/Sustainability or B2B/B2C/emerging technology companies
  • A strong network of reporter relationships, including top-tier and trade
  • Initiative to achieve media results that impact client business
  • Strong writing skills for PR outcomes (press releases, bylines, op-eds, blog posts)
  • Well-organized, autonomous, self-starter
  • Open-minded, ready to learn, with a growth mindset
  • Desire to grow as a professional in the PR space
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback well and view it as a growth opportunity
  • Works well in an open, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google (Search + G-Suite)
  • Fundamental understanding of social media for business

Responsibilities

  • Report to Senior Account Directors/VPs
  • Manage accounts and junior staff while executing media relations strategy for 6–8 accounts
  • Handle tasks such as pitch writing, byline writing, press releases, media pitching, reviewing junior staff content, and overall account strategy
  • Drive account success by positioning teammates for success while delivering your own results
  • Achieve media results for clients by building account management strategies for yourself and junior staff
  • Demonstrate strong client and media communication skills, including:
    • Email correspondence
    • Weekly/bi-monthly client calls
    • Agenda preparation
    • In-person meetings and media event staffing
    • Transparent dialogue with clients
  • Develop ideas that support client initiatives, including:
    • Media campaign ideas
    • Social media strategies
    • Content marketing
    • Value proposition development
    • Other creative approaches
  • Pursue client outcomes relentlessly
