Job Overview

The IT Policy Analyst is responsible for producing effective written communication for an IT Division within a federal government agency on policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal stakeholders to analyze, recommend, author, and deliver high-quality documentation such as procedures, policies, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, draft, and maintain IT-related policies to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, current organizational standards, and IT objectives.
  • Create strategies through policy and other channels to educate the workforce on proposed and ongoing efforts to drive efficiency, standardize IT concepts, ensure compliance with federal policies, and revise existing standards.
  • Develop and/or update communication outreach SOPs, policy directives, and other related processes and procedures.
  • Analyze business processes to determine documentation requirements.
  • Gather information through research, SME interviews, source documents, and review of existing documentation.
  • Write various types of documentation, such as policies and operational procedures.
  • Manage regular reviews with SMEs to maintain accuracy and completeness of documents.
  • Create documents that comply with federal government customer standards on language, writing style, structure, and format.

    • Effectively collaborate in a team environment, as well as work independently without much supervision.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience; Master’s degree and 4 years of experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in policy analysis and policy writing either in Government (federal, state, or local).
  • Previous experience in policy writing, preferably IT-related topics, is required.
  • Expertise and experience working in a customer “start-up” space, where all new policies are needed.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodologies of business process reengineering.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging methods and developments in the field of IT management.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, characteristics, and capabilities of information technology security and systems.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize and deliver high-quality, accurate work within targeted deadlines.

Pay

$120,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
