Pay: $72,000.00 – $78,000.00 per Year

Summary

Provides tactical leadership and execution in Producer Education and leads the execution of Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) programs; assists in the development and implementation of a producer education plan for NCBA consistent with NCBA’s organizational plan and the Industry Long Range Plan.

Essential Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Provides tactical leadership in the development of educational programs and materials for NCBA members, state partners/organizations, and other appropriate audiences.
  • Supports BQA program in collaboration with the education efforts of state & breed affiliates, beef councils, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Serves as a resource and presenter at affiliate and industry educational events, and provides written educational content as needed for state communication efforts.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for the BQA Advisory Group and BQA State Coordinators, providing strategic leadership and support to ensure alignment with National BQA program goals.
  • Supports stakeholder outreach efforts by coordinating with internal technical experts to ensure accurate and effective communication on cattle production topics.
  • Leads the project management of all BQA content development and assists in the delivery of content across multiple platforms and audiences.
  • Provides tactical support to NCBA staff and producer/volunteer leadership for the Beef Quality Assurance program.
  • Serves as spokesperson for NCBA on appropriate issues.
  • Assists with staff coordination of the Stockmanship and Stewardship program, BQA Continuing Education support, and general BQA content delivery.
  • Builds and maintains key relationships with outside educational institutions and resources, e.g., academia, extension service, veterinarian groups, agriculture organizations, financially related businesses, allied industry technical representatives, beef industry safety/quality assurance program staff, etc.
  • Provides strategic leadership for the BQA program by managing cross-functional collaboration with internal teams.
  • Provides team support and collaboration on appropriate business and strategy teams.
  • Moderate travel required.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in animal science, agricultural education, or related field with an emphasis on beef cattle production.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years industry or related experience.

Certification(s): None

Skills: Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little supervision, once thoroughly onboarded. Must possess knowledge and understanding of information transfer in agriculture. Must be comfortable with new technology opportunities for Producer Education programs and initiatives. Must have a strong understanding of the production, processing, and marketing segments associated with the cattle industry from farm/ranch to consumer. Must be competent in the basic sciences and have the ability to review and assess scientific literature and relate to practical applications in the industry. Also, must be able to effectively interface with beef producers, the scientific community, meat science, extension, nutrition and veterinary professionals, allied industry, government personnel, and industry influencers. Strong platform and presentation skills are a must. Must have strong people, management, communication, and computer skills.
