The Manager, Public Affairs leads grassroots outreach and media engagement efforts to increase awareness and education about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. This role builds strategic relationships with community-based organizations, media outlets, influencers, and civic leaders to amplify LiveOnNY’s mission. The manager develops and executes public affairs plans that reflect community needs, stakeholder priorities, and organizational visibility goals.

Responsibilities

Maintain community affairs awareness within designated geographies, communities, or demographics to identify opportunities and/or partnerships to enhance organ and tissue donation awareness.

Analyze data, studies, and community feedback to identify barriers to donation and inform outreach strategies.

Assess educational needs of target audiences and contribute to the development of relevant programs and materials.

Organize presentations and informational sessions; secure speaking engagements at health fairs, conferences, community forums, etc.

Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent messaging and delivery of outreach services.

Maintain records of outreach activities and program evaluations for themselves and direct reports; provide guidance and support to direct reports ensuring goals and objectives are achieved.

Support continuous process improvement and contribute to departmental learning and innovation.

Travel and work outside of normal office hours as required.

Participate in continuous process improvement at every level.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, political science, journalism, or a related field.

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience Required:

Minimum five years of progressive experience in media and/or community relations, with at least two years in a managerial role.

Demonstrated success in identifying media opportunities and building strategic partnerships.

Computer literacy required; Salesforce experience preferred.

Excellent communication, presentation, training, and conflict resolution skills.

Language Requirement:

Professional proficiency in Spanish and English required.

Work Schedule:

Typical work hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with attendance at events on weekends as needed.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $110,000 annually
