ROLE SUMMARY
The field-based Director of Public Affairs is a member of the US Policy and Government Relations department responsible for driving public affairs priorities in multiple states in the US. This role will also have management responsibilities to manage several members of the Alliance Development team who work in the same states to engage third party stakeholders.
In this role, the director will work with their team to engage with third parties and drive digital and earned media campaigns in support of Pfizer’s policy priorities.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Execution: Plan and execute public affairs and communications strategies in region; lead strategic direction of public affairs and alliance team to support federal and state policy priorities.
Media Campaigns: Drive state teams and regional public affairs firms’ execution of campaigns, including tailoring earned media pitches, conducting media training for third-parties, and targeting specific media channels (broadcast, print, and online).
Digital Advocacy: Lead social media and digital advocacy capability development and execution in the region.
Collaboration: Create public affairs opportunities by working closely with government relations and the alliance development team to develop policy communications.
Influence: Leverage earned and social media to impact state and federal government officials, opinion leaders, and third-party organizations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Assist government relations team efforts to build strategic alliances with government officials and advocates.
Team Management: Manage and drive strategic priorities and performance of members of the alliance development team and regional public affairs firms.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education: BA/BS Degree required. Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Experience: 8+ years of previous public affairs/media experience strongly preferred, with at least 3 years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical field.
Advocacy: Experience working with key thought leaders or advocacy groups.
Leadership: Previous management experience preferred; ability to develop and motivate others and lead through change.
Financial Acumen: Ability to plan and manage a budget within restrictions.
Communication: Ability to communicate and execute complex topics and develop strong internal relationships.
Location: This is a remote position covering determined states in the US.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate complex topics into an understandable short narrative across a range of interested parties.
Ability to manage multiple colleagues and several contracted agencies.
TRAVEL & WORK SCHEDULE
Traveling roughly 25% of the time may be a requirement for this role.

Salary Range: $176,600.00 – $282,900.00
Bonus & Incentives: Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan (20.0% bonus target) and share-based long-term incentive program.

Relocation: May be available based on business needs.
