$93,975.00 To $112,770.00 Annually

Position Summary

The position is responsible for executing key components of the Division’s communications strategy, including developing and distributing/posting web, social, and digital content to advance the Division’s key advocacy and communications objectives. Additional responsibilities include working with Division leadership, subject matter experts, consultants, and others to identify opportunities to reach policy makers, select voters, journalists, and other influencers through digital channels and live events to promote ACC’s point of view on priority advocacy topics. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Advocacy and Public Affairs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops public affairs and communications materials, such as talking points, fact sheets, media statements, advocacy materials, website content, social media content, graphics, slides, etc.
  • Develops and maintains a shared library of current messages, slides, external statements, and talking points.
  • Posts website content using WordPress and social media content across various platforms.
  • Collaborates internally with ACC’s other social media managers to amplify social media voice and presence.
  • Works with relevant colleagues to identify opportunities for Division leaders to demonstrate thought leadership; may prepare materials and logistics to enable participation.
  • Assists in executing creative solutions for Division leaders to effectively communicate vision and strategy to staff, members, policymakers, and the plastics value chain. Drafts materials including polished and thoughtful presentations.
  • Assists in developing, editing, and publishing member newsletters.
  • Tracks and monitors results of tactics to ensure continual improvement.
  • Helps produce and publish the Sustainably Speaking podcast.
  • Participates in planning and development of conference sponsorships including designing breakout sessions, producing marketing materials, and providing on-site support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, government, or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in communications, issue advocacy, media relations, or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and current and emerging technologies, trends, and approaches used to propagate messaging that resonates with targeted audiences.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, against tight deadlines, and in situations requiring rapid turnaround.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to write creatively and communicate technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and to build consensus and strong collaborative partnerships within an association.
  • Demonstrated research and editing skills.
  • Experience working with print or broadcast media.
  • Experience managing social media and digital content management platforms, online targeting, and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to process technical and abstract verbal and written information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously to manage multiple projects and relationships, prioritize competing tasks/demands, and meet deadlines in a team environment.
