Advances patient health by developing and implementing internal and external communications programs, including public relations and internal/employee communications, that support the short- and long-term business objectives of BIPI/BI USA associated with prescription medicines across the entire product life-cycle, including traditional and digital PR and social media activities, and employee communications. Facilitates issues preparedness and response activities for assigned products. Serves as company spokesperson with traditional, digital, and social media.

Duties & Responsibilities
Develops and manages internal and external communication programs for assigned products or disease area to achieve defined plan objectives. Manages media relations to effectively drive results. Facilitates issues preparedness and response for assigned products, applying the US process with issues teams and partnering with US and global leadership to respond to issues. Remains knowledgeable of marketplace and external forces and trends that have the potential to impact products, diseases, and/or the pharmaceutical industry.
Conducts and oversees effective media relations that achieve and/or contribute to overall PR plan and objectives.
Builds open and collaborative relationships with global PR colleagues in Ingelheim, as well as strong relationships with colleagues in marketing, medical, legal, regulatory departments, corporate communications, patient advocacy, stakeholder relations, government affairs, and others based on the specific business need(s) of the assigned therapeutic area(s). With support from the Director, fosters alignment across stakeholders ensuring that global PR initiatives include US perspective and fit relevant business needs.
Contributes to the selection of and manages consultants/agencies on a day-to-day basis as an extension of the in-house communications team to maximize performance, results, and ROI.
Manages PR/communications budget and resources for assigned products, in cooperation with supervisor and marketing, while tracking progress as they relate to defined objectives and reporting results.
Facilitates effective issues preparedness to minimize business interruptions and protect the reputations of the company and its assets by identifying and planning for issues through the application of the US issues process.
Conducts all activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution, preferably in the area of PR/Communications, Journalism, or Marketing
- Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in PR/communications or other related field (such as marketing, patient advocacy, journalism) within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience cultivating and building relationships with the media
- Experience in developing and implementing brand communications and PR plans
- Experience in communications or other related field (such as marketing, patient advocacy, journalism) within the pharmaceutical industry is required for this role.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence outcomes both with and without authority
- Strong project and event management skills
- Agency management experience
- Crisis/issue management background
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Pharmaceutical/healthcare experience
- Must work well in teams and invest in developing collaborative internal and external relationships
- Strong presentation skills
- Able to make a compelling case for public relations; to engender support for programming, decisions, and resources
- Strategic thinker and Problem Solver
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
