Job Responsibilities

The Associate General Counsel provides legal advice and services to divisions and agencies of the ADA, as set forth below, to protect the legal rights and interests of the ADA. The Associate General Counsel provides legal services and counseling for various ADA entities, focusing on commercial contract negotiations and drafting (including intellectual property and technology contracts), governance, data privacy, artificial intelligence, drafting and editing of legal publications for ADA members, and responding to member inquiries on legal topics.

Must Have

  • Juris Doctor
  • 10 years minimum experience with a major law firm, corporation, or association dealing with general corporate law and contract matters, including technology contracts
  • Admission to Illinois Bar
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Public speaking ability
  • Ability to fully analyze the possible legal ramifications of a wide range of activities and complex areas of law
  • People skills or excellent personal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Some evening and weekend work and possible occasional travel, including possible attendance at ADA Annual Meeting / House of Delegates

Nice to Have

  • Experience in data privacy, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, contract management systems, and other legal software tools
  • Experience in health care, antitrust, OSHA, and/or FDA regulations
