Together for Choice

Witt/Kieffer is proud to join with TOGETHER FOR CHOICE to lead the CEO search for this new, national, not-for-profit focused on advocating for the advancement of the rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Specifically, TFC wants these individuals to have the right to choose from among a broad variety of quality residential, vocational and recreational choices that can enrich their lives. With the increasingly complex array of federal Medicaid and state agency rules governing housing and employment choices, and access to employment and supportive living services, current regulations are having the effect of reducing choices and the availability of long-term care services for the I/DD community. In response, TFC seeks to build state and national level coalitions with advocacy networks, provider agencies, families, and persons with I/DD to advocate for systemic and policy reforms that promote equality of opportunities and choices for the I/DD community.

This CEO will build the organization and shape the initiatives necessary to deliver on TFC’s vision and goals. TFC is incorporated in the state of Louisiana and is currently obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporate status from the IRS. Initially, this role will be situated on the successful candidate’s current locale. As the organization evolves, she/he may strategically relocate the head office to more efficiently serve its constituents. The CEO will report to the Board of Directors, which is comprised of 13 leaders representing local and national organizations focused on a collection of initiatives including CHOICE-based housing models, social enterprise and justice, full-spectrum community care and services, and philanthropic enterprises.

TFC is seeking a proven, resourceful, hands-on/participative leader who thrives on the opportunity to build an impactful organization from the ground up. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience in successfully building early, developmental stage organizations of a similar nature.

Possessing a working knowledge of the legislative process, the preferred candidate will be an experienced advocacy leader with the requisite leadership and coordinative skills to develop and manage impactful networks. The ability to convene, communicate effectively with, equip and deploy people and resources toward the objective to influence positions and advocate for new ideas/approaches will be necessary. Success in advocacy/public policy, community organization/mobilization, media/communications, and grassroots advocacy tactic development and implementation would be especially valuable as well. This person must embody a genuine passion for serving the I/DD population. While direct experience is not mandatory, emotional resonance with this population will be an important factor in his/her success.
